Monotype launches MyFonts app in ChatGPT
With its library of over 250,000 fonts, Monotype recognised the need to bring professional typography into AI-native creative workflows. By partnering with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which has over 900 million weekly active users, the global typography leader is allowing designers to discover and explore real, licensable fonts through natural-language prompts on the MyFonts app.
The beta release, courtesy of Monotype Labs, reflects the type foundry’s aims of building brand governance and workflow management for the agentic world. Monotype believes that, as AI becomes more integrated into everyday workflows, typography is now a more essential form of expression than ever.
Neeraj Gulati, chief AI officer at Monotype, comments, “AI is transforming how creative work gets imagined, developed, and delivered. As creative workflows become more conversational and interconnected, typography needs to become a more seamless part of the creative stack. With MyFonts in ChatGPT, we’re bringing trusted type discovery and expertise directly into the tools and platforms shaping modern creativity.”
The integration can be accessed by simply typing “@MyFonts,” allowing users to match font recommendations with their creative intent. Monotype says one benefit of the MyFonts app in ChatGPT is that, when in conversation with AI, designers and marketers will no longer have to open a new tab to access fonts.
Monotype also claims that the MyFonts app differs from AI-generated font suggestions, as the integration will cover its library of over 250,000 fonts in over 300 languages.
Charles Nix, senior executive creative director at Monotype, adds, “As AI accelerates design production and raises the aesthetic floor, differentiation becomes both more difficult and more important. Typography remains one of the foundational systems of brand expression – shaping voice, meaning, recognition and trust across increasingly automated creative environments. MyFonts in ChatGPT keeps typography integrated into creative decision-making from the beginning.”
The MyFonts app in ChatGPT is now available in the US.
