The judges

 

The panel and the judging process.

The Transform Awards ANZ is judged by a panel of in-house industry experts across a multitude of sectors. We purposely look for a panel that has experience of and knowledge in branding, marketing, corporate communications and advertising for a wide perspective. 

The scoring is done on a points system and the judges score anonymously. The judging system we operate is one which is fair, and if a judge has entered into a specific category, they will be exempt from reviewing that area in which they are competing, to avoid a conflict of interest. We also provide detailed feedback on submitted work, after the awards evening, which often proves highly useful for future entries.

Winners are determined by the scores they receive and only entries that score high enough marks will be shortlisted and awarded with trophies.

In 2021, we will welcome the winning agencies and companies of the 2020 'Best overall visual identity' and 'Grand Prix' accolade to judge the awards.

Melissa Baillache
Creative Director
For The People

Mel is a Creative Director with For The People where she leads creative output and manages teams as a designer who specialises in brand, creative strategy and user experience. She’s collaborated with a range of local and international clients to create new brands, design physical experiences, and reimagine products that meaningfully impact on people inside organisations, in communities, as well as with customers.

With over 10 years experience across advertising, digital and branding, Mel has been fortunate to have been recognised by various award bodies, and continues to be involved with the design industry and education in Australia.

Faycal Benabdellaziz
Head of Group Brand
NAB (National Australia Bank)

Faycal Benabdellaziz is a senior strategic brand and marketing leader, with 20+ years of experience. He has worked at National Australia Bank (NAB) for the past 12+ years, leading the Group Brand function covering the areas of Brand, CSR and Sponsorship. In his role he is responsible for all visual design and governance, brand experience, strategy, brand research, measurement & insights and advertising, for the bank’s key brands.

He has held various roles at NAB including key strategic marketing, digital, advertising and communications roles, covering consumer to corporate & institutional audiences in the APAC region, as well as wealth management and markets products areas. Prior to NAB, Faycal spent time honing his skills in a number of marketing communications roles with Mercer, Colonial First State and Finsia. Before his move into the financial services industry, he held marketing and advertising roles in local government and telecommunications industries in Australia and The Netherlands.

Hector Benitez

Hector "Shara" Benitez is a Creative Director with 15+ years of experience working at large advertising agencies in Mexico, USA and New Zealand.

For the last 3 years, Shara has been the Creative Director for ChristchurchNZ, the city’s sustainable economic development and city profile agency.

His work has been recognized at international advertising festivals such as Cannes Lions, New York Festival, London Advertising, Circulo Creativo de México, Effie, Best Ads and Wave.

From Jeep, Pepsi and Mercedes-Benz through to Nestle, Campbell’s, AT&T and now the City of Christchurch, Shara and his teams have been creating relevant brand messaging through strategic thinking to deliver successful and engaging campaigns.

Vince Frost

Vince Frost is a globally recognised and awarded designer. Before founding Frost* Design in London in 1994, he was the youngest Associate Director at Pentagram. In 2004, Vince relocated to Sydney where, as ECD of Frost*collective, he has worked with leading arts and cultural organisations, governments and business to help bring visionary ideas to life. His award winning book, Design Your Life, was published by Penguin Lantern in 2014 and his podcast under the same title was recently voted top 5 creative podcasts globally. Vince also founded and leads deFrost* talks, a monthly talk hosted at the Frost*collective studio featuring speakers from the collective’s network of leading local and global thinkers who share their insights and participate in the development of ideas at the bleeding edge of commercial creativity and business.

Robin George

Robin has 20 years of experience in marketing from both creative agency and client side roles in the UK and Australia. Robin's expertise is in brand strategy and creative delivery. Having delivered brand and creative projects for a range blue chip organisations across FMCG, Consumer Electronics, Automotive, Telecommunications and Banking, Robin joined Tyro in 2018 as Head of Brand and Communications to deliver the first re-brand since 2007 and to build the brand marketing and creative capability in-house. In this role Robin is responsible for brand strategy, delivering marketing campaigns, content and creative for the business across all channels.

Fiona has been in the marketing field for some 15 years - initially in London and for the last 5 years based in Auckland. Working for a cross section of industries from media and healthcare, to travel has kept things interesting. Fiona enjoys bringing brands to life, and ensuring the whole organisation is singing from the same hymn sheet. Currently as Group Brand Manager for Haka Tourism her role involves managing and co-ordinating the sales and marketing for Haka Tours and Haka Accommodations. Outside of work, Fiona enjoys making the most of the New Zealand outdoors.

Scott Mullins

Scott Mullins is a change-making brand communications specialist with a passion for building accessible, inclusive and values-led brands. A father-of-two, Scott has more than 12 years experience in journalism and not-for-profit brand, communications, PR, marketing, content and storytelling. Currently Brand Manager at Australia's blood cancer charity, the Leukaemia Foundation, he also sits on several NFP boards advising on brand, marketing and communications.

Shelley Norton

Shelley is a brand and marketing leader with experience in professional services, education, membership and recreational industries. With 20+ years of experience in Marketing, Shelley specializes in and is most passionate about brand, whether it's revitalizing a brand, a complete rebrand or developing a successful brand positioning and strategy. Shelley has varied industry experience & expertise in brand measurement, brand architecture, visual and verbal identity, co-branding, developing brand governance systems and developing and delivering successful brand campaigns. With a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Marketing and Post Grad qualifications in Brand Management, Shelley is currently the Head of Brand for PwC Australia.

Petra Ryberg

Petra Ryberg started off in hospitality design with Wilson Associates in Dallas & New York 2011 she then transition to HBA in London 2012. 

During these years Petra got an insight and chance to work on many prestigious projects. It was with Tillberg Design of Sweden where she started her

Journey in marine design where she was project managing P&O cruises Australia. She has now been heading up the design department in Sydney for P&O for the last 4 years. 

Petra is involved with every aspect of the design onboard the ship, from brief to concept, including branding and all interior design. 

Delina Shields

Delina Shields has more than 2 decades of marketing and brand building experience and has been privileged to work on some of the world’s most well-known and loved brands - Coca-Cola, Vodafone and Arnotts Biscuits to name a few.


She joined Vodafone in 2016 and, as Head of Brand & Marketing, leads her team to deliver insight-led campaigns and stories to build the brand with customers, staff and stakeholders. As well as building relevant and resilient brands, Delina is passionate about building strong and resilient teams by helping individuals identify their passions and strengths in order to fulfil their potential.

Adele Tarnawski

Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA)

Adele has spent over a decade helping companies communicate and engage with employees, other businesses, customers, and the world. She’s worked with over 100 brands during this time, amassing a range of skills and a fascination for behaviour change, branding, communications, and coaxing talk into action.

She led employee engagement for St.George Bank’s Customer Contact Centre, dabbled in conferences and crisis comms for Ogilvy Impact, and then worked on some of Australia’s leading brands as a Strategist at Interbrand, Re Sydney, and Houston Group.

Currently freelancing, her most recent postings have been at DesignStudio, Monogram, and Breville- all whilst being the current National President and Chair of the AGDA Board. And most importantly – in her final year of high school she won 'Most likely to be famous'. (It may still happen...).

Sophie Woodman
F&B brand & marketing manager, Pacific

Sophie is a brand marketer and strategist specialising in the travel, hospitality and food & beverage sectors. Her skill set lies in strategically rebranding restaurants and bars to deliver revenue growth, as well as sustaining and building hotel brand equity and awareness through above and below the line marketing campaigns. Over the past 10 years, she has spearheaded a number of organisational and innovative changes which resulted in lower marketing costs, increased brand quality and an increase in guest satisfaction.
