Creative communications in the Middle East and North Africa is still a developing industry. For branding professionals in this region, the ways in which the industry is changing and the particularities of local communications make for unique briefs and creative work.

Transform magazine is undertaking research, in association with YouGov, into the brand development community in the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states in order to determine how the industry perceives itself and what it hopes to achieve in future. To take the survey, click here.

Andrew Thomas, publishing editor of Transform magazine, says, “The branding industry in the Middle East increasingly produces world-class work. But, what are the drivers for brand initiatives in the region? What are the biggest challenges for corporate branding projects? Who should own the brand? Transform’s research into brand development in the Middle East will answer some of these vital questions.”

The survey will determine the relationship between clients and agencies in the GCC, how agencies are positioned within the communications landscape and the extent to which brand strategy is developed at a local and wider level in brand and rebrand projects. The results of the research will be discussed at the 2nd annual Middle East Brand Summit taking place on 2 June in Dubai.

At this year’s Dubai Lynx Festival of Creativity, leaders of creative agencies operating in the region discussed issues surrounding the role of creativity in communications geared toward GCC citizens. Those from international networks, like Fitch and Getty Images said creativity can unite cultures and has, in the region, thus far, driven excellence in brand and communications work. Others, with a more local focus like representatives from the Middle East Film and Comic Con note that local creative talent is fostered both by international influences and by homegrown success stories.

The Middle East Brand Summit will also feature discussions about social business development, destination branding, digital and creative implementation strategy, luxury branding and other topics. To book your place, click here. Bookings received before 27 April will receive a 25% discount.

The survey is now open.
