VoteRiders launches digital platform to tackle voter ID confusion

03 Standard Desktop Home

VoteRiders is a US nonpartisan nonprofit organisation focused solely on eliminating voter ID barriers so every eligible voter can cast a ballot that counts. Partnering with design agency Synoptic Office, the brand launches a new digital platform that turns voter ID laws into an accessible, action-driven experience.

Launched ahead of the 2026 US midterm elections, the project embodies the idea that creativity can spark action.

The brand identity, by Morgan Searcy, was inspired by the visual language of ‘60s and ‘70s public service announcements. The site uses high-contrast colour, confident typography and clear structural hierarchy to bring clarity to a fragmented legal landscape.

ID laws continue to change across the country, with 38 states currently enforcing their own set of unique voter ID requirements. VoteRiders’ digital platform is not only easy to navigate but also makes it clear to understand a complex and confusing aspect of civic participation.

“The site is built to meet people where they are: those navigating busy lives and constantly shifting voting rules, or those lacking the resources and information to participate in our democracy,” says Kiayna O’Neal, digital and communications director at VoteRiders. “Every element is designed to inspire action, from securing an ID to vote, to mobilising communities around the harms of ID laws, to giving people and partners the tools to help protect the freedom to vote.”

The photography on the site shows the impact VoteRiders has had on communities, from volunteers getting involved with the initiative to voters across the country proudly flashing their voter IDs.

The platform serves as a digital bridge, connecting three distinct audiences. For individuals facing barriers to obtaining voter ID, the site offers guidance tailored to their specific needs. Supporters and partner organisations can find dynamic resources to help them amplify their impact and expand access. Policy experts, researchers and journalists can gain a trusted source of up-to-date analysis of the evolving landscape of voter ID laws.

Navigation on the site puts evergreen essentials first before connecting people with actions and next steps they can take. Bold design with language that breaks down complex legal jargon allows for an empowering civic experience. Each state page serves as a gateway for guidance with checklists and pathways for actions like obtaining IDs and registering to vote.

Beyond digital access, VoteRiders continues to distribute physical flyers and information cards to reach those in the US without reliable internet access.
