Mildreds’ new restaurant, Tangra, opens with an innovative brand design
Strong personality and striking visuals define the new restaurant’s brand to match the bold, fiery menu. Mildreds partnered with London-based creative design agency Kuba & Friends to open the new vegetarian Indo-Chinese restaurant.
Mildreds Restaurant Group, a London-based vegan chain, stepped outside of the box and opened Tangra in Soho, London in late 2025.
Muted colours are a foreign concept to this brand, with bright reds, yellows and pinks as well as rich blues and greens all featuring. Tangra’s playful typography mimics Bengali and Chinese letterforms, striking a balance between commercial and creative thinking.
“Tangra was an opportunity for us to create a brand that is as loud, unapologetic and fiery as the food itself,” says Kuba Wieczorek, founder of Kuba & Friends. “We purposely pushed against minimalist design and leaned into a vibrant, high-energy world. This was collaboration at its absolute best.”
Illustrations by Jelly London and Boomeranng feature motifs of tigers, mouths, dragons and flames. Photography couples the graphics with saturated images of food on a bright red table. The brand created a cohesive visual identity with this distinct design, reinforcing brand immersion across menus, signage and digital spaces.
