Millennial brands unite

In 2015, millennials surpassed Gen Xers as the largest generation in the US workforce. But what the term ’millennial’ stands for, and how useful it is as a defining term, remains hotly disputed.

While the millennial debate rages on, an event concerned with marketing to this particular demographic is announced.

Millennial 20/20 features 150 speakers on three stages, and 40 showcase exhibits. The event aims to create discussion around the powerful consumer demographic that is the millennial. A millennial brand is digitally-focused, innovative, tech-savvy and creative. As well as ambitious and disruptive in its intentions.

Live showcase hubs across four industry sectors; fashion and beauty, food and beverage, travel and hospitality and sport and fitness, will feature discussions across 11 pillars; marketing, retail, design, mobile, payments, video, social, e-commerce, CRM, big data and merchandising.

Event organiser, Rupa Ganatra, says of Millennial 20/20, “Staying relevant in a millennial-driven marketplace requires constant innovation, creativity and risk-taking by businesses. By the end of this decade Millennials will have a global spending power of over £8.9bn, and are already reshaping the economy. We feel it is paramount to bring this to the forefront of the global discussion in 2016.”

Speakers come from companies who are already targeting the millennial demographic. Among those confirmed are Jonny Wooldridge, CTO at The Cambridge Satchel Company’s, Alejandro Agag, CEO at Formula E, Becky Taylor, senior digital director at Pepsico and Renée Elliott, founder at Planet Organic.

The event will take place on 13 and 14 April, 2016, at Victoria House in London. Supported by the government, Millennial 20/20, with Accenture as its headline sponsor, is the world’s first, large-scale millennial business event. The entrepreneurs behind the event, Rupa Ganatra, Viktoria de Chevron Villette and Simon Berger, are also responsible for events such as Internet Retailing, Motor Sport Business Forum, Formula 100, Designjunction, eLearn Expo Series, Screen Expo and Brand Us Social.
